1. Acceptance of these terms

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of vedangam.org (the "Website"), operated by Vedangam ("we", "us" or "our"). By accessing or using the Website you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Website.

2. About the Website

Vedangam publishes a daily Hindu calendar (Panchangam), festival dates, city-specific timings such as sunrise, Rahu Kalam and Choghadiya, and educational articles on Jyotisha, the Nakshatras, the Navagrahas, Indian calendar systems and the six Vedangas, in several Indian languages. The Website is provided free of charge and does not require registration.

3. Informational, religious and cultural content

All content on the Website is provided for general informational, educational, religious and cultural purposes only. Descriptions of auspicious or inauspicious times, muhurtas, astrological concepts and ritual practices present traditional beliefs and practices as they are understood within Hindu traditions. They are not scientific claims, and their inclusion does not mean that we endorse any particular belief or practice.

Nothing on the Website is professional advice. Content must not be relied upon as medical, legal, financial, psychological or other professional advice. Do not delay seeking professional help, or make important decisions about health, money, relationships or safety, on the basis of a Panchangam timing or astrological description.

4. Accuracy of computed timings

Panchangam elements and timings are computed automatically from astronomical algorithms using a modern ephemeris, the Lahiri ayanamsa, sunrise-based conventions and a reference location (Ujjain for the general Panchangam, or the selected city). Our methodology is described on the About page.

Although we work to make these calculations accurate, results can differ from printed or regional Panchangams because of differences in ayanamsa, ephemeris (drik versus vakya/Siddhantic methods), month-naming convention (Amanta or Purnimanta), reference location, atmospheric refraction, elevation, and local rules for observing festivals. Timings may therefore differ by several minutes, and festival or vrata dates occasionally by one day. Software errors are also possible. For important religious ceremonies, please confirm dates and timings with your local Panchangam, temple or a qualified priest of your tradition.

5. No warranty

The Website and all content are provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including warranties of accuracy, completeness, fitness for a particular purpose or uninterrupted availability. We may change, suspend or discontinue any part of the Website at any time without notice.

6. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Vedangam, its owners and contributors shall not be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for any loss of profits, data or opportunity, arising out of or relating to your use of, or inability to use, the Website or any content on it, including any decision or action taken in reliance on computed timings or dates.

7. Intellectual property

The ancient texts, mantras and traditional knowledge discussed on the Website belong to humanity's shared heritage. However, the original text, translations, explanations, tables, page design, graphics and software of the Website are the property of Vedangam and are protected by copyright.

• You may quote short excerpts with a clear attribution and a link to the original page.
• You may not republish, scrape, mirror or redistribute substantial parts of the Website, including bulk Panchangam data, or use them for commercial purposes, without our prior written permission.

8. Acceptable use

You agree not to misuse the Website, including by attempting to disrupt or overload it, accessing it with automated tools at a rate that degrades service for others, attempting to gain unauthorised access to its systems, or using it for any unlawful purpose.

9. Advertising

The Website displays advertisements served by third parties, including Google AdSense. Advertisements are not endorsements. We do not control, and are not responsible for, the content of advertisements or the products and services they promote. Any dealings you have with advertisers are solely between you and the advertiser. Information about advertising cookies and opt-out options is in our Privacy Policy.

10. External links

The Website contains links to third-party websites for reference. We do not control those websites and are not responsible for their content, accuracy, availability or privacy practices. Following an external link is at your own risk.

11. Governing law and jurisdiction

These Terms are governed by the laws of India, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. Subject to any mandatory consumer-protection rights you have in your country of residence, any dispute arising out of or in connection with these Terms or the Website shall be subject to the jurisdiction of the competent courts in India.

12. Changes to these terms

We may revise these Terms from time to time. The "Last updated" date above shows the current version. Your continued use of the Website after changes are posted means you accept the revised Terms.
